GoPro Karma drones are unable to fly due to a possible GPS flaw

The business informed Engadget that “engineering is actively repairing” the issue, but didn’t have more to share.

This may be a product of the GPS rollover defect that has affected various gadgets. Some hardware will reset its GPS date when the associated clock hits 1,024 weeks, shaking off timing and thus location-finding capabilities. GoPro hasn’t upgraded the Karma since September 2018, several months after leaving the drone organisation— there’s a possibility that it merely had not dealt with the reset issue by then. Whatever the cause, the grounded drones serve as a pointer that GPS-dependent gizmos aren’t ensured to keep working unless there’s an appropriate level of support.
